The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is NASA’s most powerful and ambitious space observatory ever created. Designed to explore the farthest reaches of the universe, it can look back over 13 billion years to witness the birth of galaxies. In this article, we’ll explore 15 fascinating and unbelievable facts about the James Webb Space Telescope — from its giant gold mirrors to its role in rewriting the history of the cosmos.

## 1. It Can See Back in Time – Over 13 Billion Years

## 2. Its Mirror Is Coated in Real Gold

## 3. It Operates 1.5 Million Kilometers from Earth

## 4. It Took 20+ Years to Build

## 5. It Will Study Alien Atmospheres

In 1990, NASA sent Hubble Telescope into the space to search about the secrets of the Universe. We know that the information about the space and the galaxies after NASA had sent Hubble Telescope. In this 32 years, Hubble has captured so many mysterious images of the space.  Scientist know that this telescope is not sufficient to research the space. So, they decided to create much more powerful telescope than the Hubble Telescope. Then a group of 1000 scientists worked hard for 25 years and developed a telescope and they named it James Webb Space Telescope. Simply we can also call it as J.W.S.T.  This is hundred times more powerful than Hubble Telescope.  To create this James Webb Space Telescope, they had spent 10 billion dollars. In Indian currency, 10 billion dollars is 7,95,65,55,00,000.00. We can also call it as a time machine. Because it Travels 3,00,000 km speed for a light second. The time taken to travel a light ray from the sun to the earth is 8 minutes 20 seconds.

For example, if we see the sun, it means we had seen 8 minutes after the light rays had released from the sun. That is, we are seeing 8minutes past of the sun’s energy released. Therefore, as the distance increases, the time we look at increases. That is, we are looking into the past. This telescope will capture the light of stars when they had released about 1 billion or so and so years ago. it means that the telescope captures the past.

Now the question rises that why should they spend so much of money to send it into the space? why can't they place the telescope on the land?

The answer to this question is because of Light, weather, clouds and dust Pollution it is not possible to see telescope from earth. These will not allow the telescope to capture Secrets of the space. That's why they have spent so much of money to send the telescope to the space. There is no problem to capture the secrets of the space using J.W.S.T

Scientist had placed Hubble Telescope 570 km far from Earth but james webb space telescope is 1.5 million kilometers far from the Earth. J.W.S.T is placed in L2 it means Leg range 2 place. This leg range points are very special points because there, the gravity will be stable. That's why satellites will be placed in such places with less cost of fuel.

Here another question rises that there are 5 Leg ranges between sun and earth then why did the scientists decided to place it in L2 place only ?

They did so, because when the sun rays fall on our eyes, we can't see clearly. At that moment, we will place our hands between sunrays and our eyes. So that we can see clearly. Like this, James Webb Space Telescope can't capture the light that comes from stars when the sun rays fall on the James Webb Space Telescope. L2 point is backside of the Earth there will be no chance for sun rays to fall on the J.W.S.T. that's why they placed here.

Scientist had created this telescope very carefully because last time after sending Hubble Telescope the mirror had moved 2000 Nano meters which means one single hair of us had Moved 50% off right side or left side is equals to 2000 Nano meters. With this issue, the light will not be focused correctly and the images will come blurry. To correct this issue, some astronauts went into the Hubble Telescope and fixed it. We can solve or clear the issue, if Hubble Telescope gets any sort of problem because it is 570 km far from earth but it is approximately impossible to send astronauts to the J.W.S.T if it gets any issue. It is 1.5 million km far from the earth. that's why scientist have created the telescope with the facility of automatic mirror adjustment.
